When I'm too old for all this wheel me up here in a chair

This week's Gallery is 'A Favourite Place'

I went to visit Guide camp last week and stood for a while looking out over this with the Guide Leader.  She's been a Guider for at least 40 years.  She's seen so many girls through one of the most difficult phases, nothing seems to rattle her (much).  I have so much respect for her it's impossible for me to measure it.

"When I'm too old for all this" she said to me "wheel me up here in a chair and let me look at it for a while, I love this view so much."

We giggled together at the thought of it for a while, but actually I have a horrid feeling that I am going to blink and find that time has leaped yet again and there I will be.

It's been a difficult time for me Guiding over the past few weeks, and for the first time ever I even cancelled a unit meeting this week, putting family problems, first just for once.

I told the Guide Leader about what had happened with Guiding, she just chuckled and ushered it to one side and we talked about kit for the next big camp. She's known that sort of guiding hassle, knows it happens, knows it passes and she knows what matters really.

"I just love it up here" she said
"I know, me too."  and we sat in camp chairs, smelling the wood smoke and drank a cup of tea in the quiet.
