Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges' flickering light
Silently flows the river to the sea
and the barges too goo silently
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold
Do you fight with pirates, brave and bold.
I can see the barges' flickering light
Starboard shine green and port is glowing red
In the night the signal far ahead
Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, on the river you may roam
On the river, always, you're at home
Looking from my tentflap, looking in the night
I can see the Guiders' cigarette lights,
Silently flows a whisky to the glass as the Guiders have some fun at last.
Guiders, who is that man in your tent?
Isn't it about time that he went?
Guiders, how I long to be with you, I would like to have some whisky too.
