Guiding Friends by Law

WifeOfBold set me thinking about genuine people. She is having playground problems similar to some I have experienced myself. You know...the playground mums who haven't mentally matured yet and get to play out all the teen-queen-bitch role all over again.

I have my wonderful friend, she is non-guiding, but she's so nice I'll forgive her that!!!

The people that always seem to come up trumps though are the Guiders. A lot of the leaders in my area pop up in the playground or the local shops and they care, they remember, they ask and they smile and wave.

I have spoken before about the general inclusion that Guiding brings but there is something else it seems to attract the nice people...or maybe Guiding magnifies the goodness. But it all comes back to the Laws I think:

A Guide is honest, reliable and can be trusted.
A Guide is helpful and uses her time and abilities wisely.
A Guide faces challenges and learns from her experience.
A Guide is a good friend and a sister to all Guides.
A Guide is polite and considerate.
A Guide respects all living things and takes care of the world around her.

A Guide does not ignore people some days and not others, even if it's a rotten day they will still catch your eye or nod. A Guide does not playing controlling queen bee and choose who's 'in' or 'out' and a Guide is no fool and knows who isn't genuine!

If you are wondering how to spot us, we don't look like this anymore.
